The new visual workflow software from GridIron Software is now available. Flow is a new software application that allows you to visually map the path of any file assets you have attached to certain projects. No more wondering which version of a logo you have placed in a particular file. Flow will show you exactly which file it is associated with a visual map. It will also alert you if you try to delete a file that is placed in a different file. This is a remarkable asset management tool that no creative professional should be without. You can get more information and order yours here.

Well later this week I will be bringing the Down & Dirty Seminar Tour across the border to Canada. First stop is Toronto and then Calgary and both seminars are now sold out as of yesterday. This tour is really getting a lot of momentum and I am super excited that so many are coming for a fun day of learning. We will be posting future U.S. dates here in the next few weeks so keep checking the Kelby Training Live website for new dates as they are posted. Looking forward to my first trip Canada ever!
Also, for all you Twitter folks out there, you can follow me on Twitter here. I am usually posting news about what’s new on Planet but every now and then I throw in a little silliness just to liven things up. I even post some early updates on new tutorials and other special events. Hey, it’s fun and there are no rules!!

This is a question I have getting a lot lately here on the Planet site and over at the NAPP site as well. I would call my self a designer first and a photographer second. Like many others out there, I don’t always have the time or budget to conduct a photo shoot whenever I get a cool idea for a design. That is where the wonderful world of stock photography comes into play. Whenever I need a particular type of image I go to Fotolia.com. They have a vast collection of good quality stock photography in various sizes at remarkably reasonable prices. Not only photos, they provide illustrations, vector art, and even stock video clips. The site is very easy to navigate and images always download in a snap. No, I am not getting any kickbacks form for this plug. I just think they are that good. Check there site out here and see for yourself.
Also Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk event is really getting a lot of momentum. So far over almost 700 cities are participating with more than 11,000 people signed up. That’s almost double what they had last year. This is going to be huge. Visit the official site for more info or to sign up for a photo walk in your area. If there isn’t one and you can apply to be a photo walk lead in your area. The event is July 18 so there is time but don’t wait. These groups fill up fast!

Dave Cross and I are going to be teaching a radical new pre-con session at Photoshop World in Las Vegas this October. It’s called Shoot, Design, Print: Creating a Movie Poster From Start To Finish and the class is pretty much what the title says. We will start by doing a live shoot of a model which we will shoot in many different scenarios. Then we will take those shots and design a complete movie poster discussing various design concepts and techniques along the way. Then you will be able to print your final creation on a high quality printer to take home. This will be a hands-on course and is limited to 40 people. So don’t wait if you are planning on attending. This is pretty much a complete design course from beginning to end and it’s going to be a lot of fun! For more info and to register go here.

I want to thank everyone who turned out for my Down & Dirty seminar in Richmond yesterday. I had a lot of fun and I hope everyone enjoyed it. We had a packed house and everyone was really getting into it. My next stop on the tour will be Toronto on June 26. You can get more info and register by going here.
BIG NEWS! Famed photographer Joe McNally has just kicked off his new seminar tour: Location Lighting Techniques. This tour will take you through the steps of going from bad light to good light with just one flash. If there is anyone on earth who can make gold out of one flash, Joe is the man. Joe’s classes at Photoshop World are almost always standing room only and everyone raves about them. Getting a full day’s photography training from Joe is like Steven Speilberg teaching you how to make a movie. Whether you are just getting started or a working professional, this tour will take your photography to the next level. Click here for tour dates and locations.

That’s right!! The wildly popular Worldwide Photo Walk is coming back July 18, 2009. Last year the event was an overwhelming success with thousands of people in more than 200 cities participating worldwide. Each city has a leader or group of leaders that guides their group to interesting locations to shoot. Then at the end of the day, all the participants gather to go over what was shot for some feedback. The very best photos are submitted for a chance to win some great prizes sponsored by NAPP. Whether you shoot professionally or juts for fun this event is not to be missed. You can get more detailed information over at Scott Kelby’s blog. There is also a link to the main site where you can see if there is a Photo Walk near you. If not, you can sign up to host one yourself. This event is also coinciding with the upcoming release of Scott’s best-selling book: The Digital Photography Book Volume 3. Which you know—if you have the first two volumes—is and indispensable resource for shooting digital photos in virtually any scenario. More on this as it develops. In the meantime, go and get signed up for the Photo Walk, did I mention that each group is limited to approx. 50 people. Don’t wait!

Corey uses the new 3D features in Photoshop CS4 Extended to re-create the DreamWorks animated title.
In the same composition, use Select>Color Range…to select the high-lights of the base image. Be generous with the Fuzziness, as detail won’t be an issue. Copy the selection to a new layer (Command - J [PC: Ctrl - J]) and set its blend mode to Screen, which works kind of inversely from Multiply—blacks become invisible and whites are added. The result is a simple bloom or glow effect.
